I have no problem with the NSWCA running events for its members, and if they are going to lose money, at least it is going into the pocket of one of its own members. Alex Toolsie's membership application was approved by the CAQ council in a strong vote. More details are expected in the CAQ Meeting Minutes when they are published later this month.

Alex has long been an active chess player in Queensland and his 5 months away from the game is not expected to affect his playing strength very much.

Interested in your thoughts on tournament "cross promotion". i.e. we'll scratch your back, you'll scratch ours. I know that almost all chess clubs are usually happy to put out brochures for another club's tournaments, and that's great!, but its a 'soft' form of promotion.
